MHS and Centene (our parent company) are encouraged by the passage of this landmark U.S. Health Care Reform Legislation, designed to improve the state of health care in America. The intent of the law passed this week is consistent with what we refer to as The Straight A’s of Healthcare: Access, Affordability and Accountability.
The new bill will:
• Extend coverage to 32 million uninsured by expanding Medicaid and implementing plans for premium and cost-sharing credits for low and moderate income individuals and families
• Guarantee access to coverage for everyone, regardless of pre-existing conditions
• Improve access to home and community-based services, and require Medicaid coverage for former foster care children who are below the age of 25
