Founder: Betty Brinn

Who was Betty Brinn?

In 1984, Elizabeth (Betty) A. Brinn founded Managed Health Health Services, originally called Family Hospital Physciain Associates, Inc. (FHPA).  FHPA was a HMO-model provider network. She was named its Executive Director. For more information on Managed Health Services history timeline, please click here.

Her vision and mission also extended to serving the needs of children through a Milwaukee children’s museum.

The Betty Brinn Children’s Museum is named in honor of Betty Brinn, a successful Milwaukee businesswoman who spent most of her childhood in foster homes and orphanages throughout Wisconsin.

As an adult, Betty dedicated her life to helping underprivileged women and children in the Milwaukee area secure health care. Her kindness affected many individuals, and her generosity and love of children continues to impact the city of Milwaukee. Betty passed away in 1992, but her legacy lives on through the thousands of children who learn and play in the Museum each year. If you would like to learn more about the life of Betty Brinn, read On Her Own: The Story of Betty Brinn by author Priscilla Pardini and illustrator Joanne Scholler Bowring, available at the Museum’s gift shop and many libraries throughout Wisconsin.

Children’s Museum:  The Betty Brinn Children’s Museum is dedicated to providing interactive exhibits and educational resources that promote the healthy development of children in their formative years—from birth through age ten.

The Museum experience encourages hands-on learning and the development of fundamental skills, self-esteem, and the ability to work with others.
