Important Notice to Providers about Deaconess Home Health

The State of Wisconsin’s Department of Health Services has directed all BadgerCare Plus and SSI health plans, including Managed Health Services and Network Health Plan, to transition members who are receiving home health or personal care services from Deaconess to another provider. We have contacted members affected by this change.

Information for Providers Regarding Wisconsin’s Severe Flu Outbreak

As most of you may have seen in the news, the influenza season is off to an earlier and more severe start in Wisconsin than during recent seasons. As of December 3, 26 individuals statewide have been hospitalized with influenza and four of those hospitalizations occurred among unvaccinated pregnant women. Pregnant women with influenza are at a substantially greater risk of hospitalization, and death, than non-pregnant women. Vaccination against seasonal influenza affords protection to the pregnant woman and also helps to protect her infant for up to 6 months following birth. This is important because infants aged less than six months cannot be vaccinated against influenza. Here is a letter that WI’s Chief Medical Officer and State Epidemiologist for Communicable Diseases and Emergency Response issued to health care providers late last week.
