UW Health signs contract with MHS Health

Date: 03/15/17

UW Health and MHS Health Wisconsin (MHS Health) have agreed to a contract, giving people enrolled with MHS Health plans in-network access to all UW Health facilities and physicians. The arrangement is effective March 15.

“At MHS Health, we seek to partner with high-quality, integrated healthcare delivery systems that share the same purpose we do: to improve the health of the community, one person at a time. This partnership will allow us to better serve MHS Health members across the state through improved access to the premier healthcare services UW offers,” said Sherry Husa, President and CEO of MHS Health.

UW Health is the integrated health system associated with the University of Wisconsin. Its six hospitals include University Hospital, American Family Children’s Hospital, the UW Health Rehabilitation Hospital and UW Health at The American Center in Madison and two facilities in northern Illinois. UW Health’s physician group practice includes more than 1,200 physicians who are faculty of the UW School of Medicine and Public Health.

MHS Health, founded in 1984, is a health maintenance organization (HMO) that provides coverage for Wisconsin beneficiaries in BadgerCare Plus, SSI and Medicare Advantage in nearly 52 Wisconsin counties. The health plan currently serves about 73,000 members. MHS Health’s Medicaid plan has earned an NCQA Commendable rating every year since 2013. MHS Health also has a 4-Star Medicare Advantage plan. MHS Health, through its parent company, Centene Corp., also offers specialty services including behavioral health, life and health management, managed vision, telehealth services and pharmacy benefits management.
